Side Event: UPR in Action, the Post-adoption Example of Uzbekistan

Invitation - Side Event

UPR Info, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan and with the National Center for Human Rights of Uzbekistan,  will hold the side event to the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council called “UPR in Action - How development actors can contribute to the implementation of Human Rights: the post-adoption example of Uzbekistan".

The event will take place from 12.00 to 13.00 (CET) on Monday 25th March

· In-person: Room XXII, Building E, Palais des Nations, Geneva (indico)

· Online: through WebEx

The objectives of this event are to trigger a discussion on the links between human rights recommendations and technical cooperation. In this context, Uzbekistan's commitment to convene a national meeting following the UPR adoption, engaging with development actors in Tashkent, and initiating the preparation of the National Action Plan will be outlined. This will allow not only to connect better the international Geneva with the country context but is also intended to facilitate financial and technical support from recommending States – whether donors or through forms of South – South cooperation – and the entire UN System, through its UN Resident Coordinator.

The event will be a platform to discuss how synergies can be created between human rights and development efforts and encourage dialogue between stakeholders in both fields.

Moderation by Ms. Mona M’Bikay, Executive Director of UPR Info
